Read out The Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg and the science2public? Society for Science Communication launched a new competition: the nano-spots! Nano scientists become directors, animated sequences from the nanocosmos to exciting short films. At the beginning of July, the three best nanospots were selected by public vote at the 1st Nano Short Film Film Festival from the top 10 submitted films. We would like to introduce you to one of the ten best nanospots here in the next few weeks.

What is nano?

The first film we want to show you is by Lukas Helmbrecht from the University of Duisburg Essen. From the short description: "What is this? Nano? Nano is much and always more than you think. Nano has always been there, too, and being clever with it can make great things happen. This is demonstrated by the example of carbon nanotubes or nanoparticles, which enable the sustainable use of raw materials. "
